The digital Maintenance safeguarding system “key-in-pocket” ensures that a machine cannot be restarted as long as people are in danger zones.
Digital maintenance safeguarding enables more flexibility in maintenance
Authenticated operators identified by the PITreader access authorization system are logged in the Pilz control system (small controller PNOZmulti 2 or in the automation system PSS4000). The transponder key remains with the employee (“key in pocket”). The machine is only released when all employees have logged out.
In comparison to maintenance safeguarding with mechanical keys (lockout-tagout), it is possible to enter or leave the machine at any safety gate with this system. As a result, “key-in-pocket” offers your staff more flexibility and time savings during maintenance. The fully electronic restart protection therefore replaces mechanical interlocking devices as well as warning tags.
Especially suitable for machines with dangerous areas
With digital maintenance safeguarding, you always have an overview and control of which person has access to which machine and when. When entering the plant, the operator authenticates himself with his personal transponder key at the PITreader access authorization system on the safety door. The authorization is checked and only authorized personnel are then allowed to enter the plant. If a transponder key is lost, it can be easily blocked or reprogrammed. The key-in-pocket solution is therefore significantly cheaper and more flexible than systems made of metal.
You can also benefit from the manual reset function ” blind spot check” in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 5.2.2. This requires a visual check of the machine for areas that are difficult to see before the system can be started up again. Before the system can be restarted, all persons must have logged out with their personal transponder key via the PITreader after leaving the plant.
This means that the machine can only be restarted after the last person has logged out via the PITreader. This offers you and your personnel reliable restart protection. A further advantage is that the plant does not have to be left by the same door through which the machine was entered. Certified up to PL d Cat. 3 according to EN ISO 13849-1, SIL CL 2 according to EN 62061 and SIL 2 according to IEC 61508.
