Safe Small Controller PNOZmulti 2 Receives UL Certification for “Programmable Safety Controllers”

UL listing in the “Programmable Safety Controllers” category

Plant and machinery manufacturers in the USA, but also those based internationally with an export market in the USA, will be delighted: the configurable safety controller PNOZmulti 2 has received UL listing in the “Programmable Safety Controllers” category. This listing makes it much easier for plant and machinery manufacturers to provide evidence that the controller they are using is suitable for safety-related functions, particularly if the plant and machinery falls under the requirements of NFPA 79 – the “Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery”.

NFPA 79 standard

Safe Small Controller PNOZmulti 2 Receives UL Certification for “Programmable Safety Controllers”

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) developed standard 79. This standard provides detailed information for the application of electrical/electronic equipment, devices or systems supplied as part of industrial machinery to ensure the safety of life and property.

One requirement of NFPA 79 is that software and firmware-based controllers used in safety-relevant functions must be listed, i.e. certified, for this purpose. The configurable safe small controller PNOZmulti has this certification!

Certified worldwide

Regardless of plant and machine type, country or industry, you can safely use the configurable safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2 for the safety-related shutdown of plant and machinery in compliance with the standards, and up to PL e of ISO 13849-1 and SIL 3 of IEC 62061. PNOZmulti 2 ensures a controlled and therefore safe stopping of a movement and is used for position monitoring or for interrupting a movement when the user intervenes. PNOZmulti 2 is certified worldwide, for example in accordance with UL, KOSHA, TÜV and EAC.

Modular and flexible

You create your safety architecture for the plant-dependent safety functions and independently of the higher-level plant control. Once user programs have been created, they can be flexibly adapted and reused again and again. This results in time savings and cost benefits, which reduce your engineering costs from project configuration through to maintenance, as you only need to use one software tool – PNOZmulti Configurator.

Benefits to you:
  • Cost-effective and sustainable: worldwide safety standard for many automation environments and communication systems such as EtherNET IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT and many more
  • Certified hardware and software for reliable operation
  • Easy to configure thanks to user-friendly software tools
  • Short time-to-market as the inputs and outputs are freely configurable
  • The appropriate modules for every requirement – flexible, simple, economical to expand
  • Comprehensive diagnostic options mean short downtimes
  • Fast commissioning thanks to simple wiring with plug-in terminals
  • Maximum safety – up to PL e and SIL 3 depending on the application
