Delta Unveils a Total Cutting-edge Power and Cooling Solution Tailored for the NVIDIA MGX Platform at OCP Global Summit 2024

Delta, a global leader in power management and a provider of IoT-based smart green solutions, today unveiled its power, cooling, and infrastructure solution designed for the NVIDIA MGX™ platform at the OCP Global Summit. The complete modular solution boasts a unique 44U manifold design, a 33kW server power shelf system with up to 97.5% efficiency, and an advanced lithium-ion power capacitance shelf (PCS).

Next-generation cooling solutions tailored for the NVIDIA MGX platform include the new liquid-to-liquid 4U in-rack coolant distribution unit (CDU) with cooling capacity up to 135kW, the in-rack 115kW liquid-to-air CDU (air-assisted liquid cooling, AALC), and the in-row liquid-to-liquid CDU with cooling capacity up to 1.5MW.

Ted Shyy, Delta’s Executive Vice President of Power Electronics Business, said, “Delta’s comprehensive solution designed for NVIDIA MGX demonstrates our steadfast technology collaboration with NVIDIA. Moreover, its design is a testament to our prowess in power and cooling for AI servers and data centers, optimizing the power management and heat dissipation at various levels within the MGX rack. Delta anticipates this modular solution, based on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture, will help data centers seamlessly upgrade to meet the demands of machine learning, high performance computing, and other advanced applications in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.”

“Through our close engineering collaboration, Delta’s power and thermal management solutions enhance our MGX platform and GB200 systems, delivering high performance and energy efficiency for AI workloads,” said Gabriele Gorla, vice president of engineering at NVIDIA. “Our teams are working together to accelerate the development of AI factories that will drive breakthroughs across industries.”

Delta’s tailored NVIDIA MGX rack features a 1,400A busbar and a 44RU manifold design, integrated with a bespoke management switch based on the NVIDIA Spectrum networking platform, which provides 48-port 1G downlinks and 4x100GE uplinks. Key power solutions include the centralized AC input 33kW HPR power shelf, equipped with six 5.5kW hot-pluggable power supply units and paired with a power management controller (PMC) with industry-leading PoE (power over Ethernet) function, that can achieve 97.5% efficiency. The complementing DC input lithium-ion capacitor-made PCS mitigates AC grid reflections during peak power periods and facilitates efficient load shaving for AI computing.

In terms of cooling solutions, Delta’s new liquid-to-liquid 4U in-rack CDU offers exceptional performance with a cooling capacity of up to 135kW. The offering also includes the 1.5MW L-L CDU and the 115kW liquid-to-air CDU, all of which offer 50-micron filters to maintain long-term coolant quality. Complementing this robust cooling design from the board level are the highly efficient 1RU open-loop cold plate, specifically engineered for the NVIDIAGB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip, and the new industry-leading 40mm server fans with up to 60% efficiency.

All are welcome at Delta’s booth #B6 at OCP Global Summit, a worldwide conference that aggregates AI data center talents and solutions, running October 15-17 in the San Jose Convention Center.
