Nidec Control Techniques’ Commander S Has Gone On to Win the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Achievement Silver Award

Launched in April 2022, Commander S has gone on to win multiple awards in its short lifespan, and Nidec is pleased to announce that their reliable, easy-to-use and cost-effective electric drive has triumphed again. Breaking away from the traditional method of drive interaction, Commander S is the world’s first micro drive with built-in NFC technology, and Hong Kong’s Federation of Innovative Technologies and Manufacturing Industries (FITMI) recognised the brilliance behind the drive and its Marshal app, awarding us silver in the “Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Achievement Award”.

FITMI was established in 1997 to promote the development of innovative technologies and manufacturing industries. Recognised by the elites of industry, the annual event exhibits participants’ projects and invites them to compete for awards. This is a gathering like no other, with companies and research teams/individuals from all over the world congregating to showcase their innovative achievements.

The Asia International Innovative Invention Exhibition has become a global stage for intelligent manufacturing and technology exchange. Working as an international platform for the development of innovation, intelligent creation, and entrepreneurial business.

So, how did they win? Commander S and Marshal is the first drive to come with an app interface as a standard. Marshal provides expert support at all stages of interaction with the drive, from commissioning and parameter cloning, to diagnostics and replacement. Efficiently and effectively communicating between the user and the drive. Imagine programming your drive without taking it out of its packaging and after installation, performing configuration and diagnostics, with it powered on or off; Commander S and Marshal does just that.

Their Research and Design Engineers have thought of everything. One of the key goals in the development of Commander S and Marshal has been to deliver to the market an innovative product that stands out among other drives. Throughout the conception of Commander S and Marshal, the focus has been to address key customer requirements: ease of installation, user friendliness, economic rationality, and dependability, whilst ensuring it provides the best solution paired with unique features.

The customer has been at the forefront for the entirety of the design stage, for instance, a new click on/click off system wastes no time and makes the mounting of the drive quick and easy. The NFC feature enables quick data transfer to multiple drives to keep machines working efficiency. Furthermore, Commander S is space-saving, with the small size and narrow design of the drive reducing the space in which it needs to be housed.

They aren’t just talking a big game here; Marshal goes that extra mile in providing support with assistance in 12 languages. All essential features are on board the drive meaning the customer doesn’t need to spend money on other accessories. They are so confident in Commander S that they offer a 5 year warranty as a testament to the quality and reliability of this product.

Commander S, the Marshal app and its patents have been widely recognised and commercialised, providing motor control for users worldwide.
