EFC’s Business Sections Welcomes New Industrial Controls Vice Chair

EFC is pleased to announce Andreas Sobotta, Pilz, as the new Vice Chair role for the Industrial Controls business section.
Andreas Sobotta holds a Master of Physics degree from the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, in Germany. Throughout his professional career, he has been employed by various automation companies. In 1998, Andreas moved to Canada with his family, and since then gained experience in different industries. His previous employers include Phoenix Contact (Co-GM), Siemens (BU-leader), Festo (VP Marketing), and Hammond Manufacturing (North American VP Sales and Marketing).
For the last eight years, Andreas is CEO & GM of Pilz Automation Safety Canada L.P. Under his leadership, sales of Pilz Canada nearly tripled, primarily through collaboration with distribution partners. Since March 2024, he is also the Regional VP for the Americas, being responsible for all Sales in North and South America. Andreas is also vice chairman of the Canadian mirror committee of ISO TC199, the technical committee that globally works on improvements of standards around safety of machinery.
The Industrial Controls business section represents manufacturers of products or assemblies of several types of control systems and associated instrumentation used for industrial process control.
EFC look forward to Andreas’ future contributions to the Industrial Controls business section as Vice Chair.

Pilz Automation Safety Canada L.P. announces that their long-term CEO and GM, Andreas Sobotta, will assume the role of Vice President North and South America, effective immediately. He will still work from the Canadian office in Mississauga and visit all other subsidiaries in North and South America. Pilz will take their time to find a successor for the leading position in Canada. The plan is to have a proper candidate by Q4/24 or the beginning of 2025.
