STOBER recently released a second generation PE series gearbox that offers better performance and numerous upgrades compared to the first generation. The PE Generation 2 from STOBER is more attractive, stronger, faster, and smaller while remaining compatible with many Allen Bradley® motors. The two-stage PE units are shorter, lighter, and more compact than the previous generation, but do not sacrifice quality. The new generation boasts better performance, including up to 45 percent greater acceleration torque and up to 50 percent higher nominal torque.
Texas Instruments’ DRV8231 and DRV8231A are integrated motor drivers with an N-channel H-bridge, charge pump, current regulation, and protection circuitry. The charge pump improves efficiency by supporting N-channel MOSFET half-bridges and 100% duty-cycle driving. The DRV8231/A implements a current regulation feature by comparing the analog input VREF and the voltage across a current-sense shunt resistor on the ISEN pin. The ability to limit current can significantly reduce large currents during motor startup and stall conditions.

Digi-Key Electronics, which offers one of the world’s largest selection of electronic components in stock for immediate shipment, recently announced that it has secured a global distribution agreement with EPC Space’s line of radiation hardened (rad hard) GaN-on-silicon transistors and ICs, which are packaged, tested, and qualified for satellite and high-reliability applications. EPC Space technology produces GaN devices that are smaller, have lower resistance, and have many times superior switching performance compared to silicon solutions.

This approval is found primarily in applications associated with the oil and gas industry.
One of the most important things during a machine installation is to ensure the flatness of the base. With the new XT20 and XT22 we have facilitated handling, which makes for faster measurements and fewer fault sources. More reliable machine installation, put simply. Both transmitters can be used for flatness and straightness measurement. In addition, the XT22 can direct the laser beam at 90 degrees to the laser plane, which means you can solve virtually all types of geometric measurement jobs. The area of use therefore does not stop at measuring the flatness of bases. The XT22 also has a higher technical specification for straightness thanks to fiber laser technology, and can take measurements at distances up to 40 m. The XT20 can take measurements at distances up to 20m but is also IP55 rated water and dust proof.
