The new Rittal plant in Haiger embraces the principles of Industry 4.0. The company has made its largest single investment, totalling 250 million euros, to establish the world’s most advanced facility for its new compact and small enclosures. Phoenix Contact Canada is pleased to announce that Roger Hallett has accepted the position of General Manager, taking on leadership for our Canadian operations. Prior to joining Phoenix Contact, Roger held a series of senior management roles with Festo, Siemens and ABB. Originally from the UK, Roger’s international career has involved living and working in Germany, South East Asia, and Japan. After a 5-year posting in Japan, in 2002 Roger relocated to Canada and after some years decided to settle there. He became a Canadian citizen in 2007.

The global motion control and motor market saw a 0.2% decline in shipments in the first quarter of 2019 vs. the same period last year, down to $952.3 million. World’s first industrial application utilizing 5G and AI adopted at ABB drives factory in Helsinki

 

ABB is piloting the world’s first industrial artificial intelligence (AI) application using 5G wireless technology to support the assembly of drives at its plant in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki. ABB is implementing the solution in partnership with mobile phone operator Telia and software engineering firm Atostek Oy, which specializes in industrial applications.
