MP8010 Motor Protection Relay Offers Power Supply Option
October 28, 2024
Littelfuse launched its newest motor protection relay in the MP8000 series
Littelfuse launched its newest motor protection relay in the MP8000 series. This new model—MP8010—offers a new 24 V power supply option. Instead of a nominal 120 V power supply for ac, you can now get a 24 V dc power supply with control power input of 12–30 V dc with the MP8010.
The MP8010 model expands the relay’s application usage. Some examples where dc control power is preferred include:
- Where space is limited in the panel for a separate control power transformer
- BMS systems that often use 24 V dc power supplies
- Motors for pumps, conveyors, fans, and HVAC equipment where 24 V dc control power is available
The MP8000 series motor protection relay is designed to protect three-phase or single-phase motors with operating voltages of 90-690 V ac (use of external potential transformers can extend upper voltage range above 690 V ac). The MP8000 protects any motor drawing 0.5-1,000 full load amperes (external CTs are required above 100 A). The MP8000 series provides locked rotor, overload, overtemperature, and unbalance protection. Voltage-based protection elements are standard.
These relays include inverse time-over current elements suitable for overload protection, and they also provide monitoring functions. The MP8010’s protection is unsurpassed by combining overload, voltage, phase loss and reversal, voltage and current imbalance, power monitoring, and underload in one package.
