Introducing the New VLM-60 Multi-turn Encoder from Netzer Precision
February 26, 2024
Netzer is proud to introduce the new VLM-60 multi-turn, hollow shaft absolute rotary encoder, the ideal solution for smooth and continuous production with limited space.
The VLM-60 multi-turn encoder from Netzer is an extremely low profile, hollow shaft absolute rotary encoder. Often used in multi-axis machinery, servo motors machine tools or robots, and process machine manufacturing. The VLM-60 ensures the accuracy and reliability demanded by these applications.
A 17-bit single-plus-15-bit multi-turn resolution ensures smooth and continuous production since the master reads the multi-turn positions from the encoder both at start-up and throughout the operation. In case of a power outage or a machine shutdown, the VLM-60 maintains the multi-turn absolute position by utilizing an internal battery or an external power source.
Features:
- 17 bit single + 15-bit multi-turn resolution
- Low profile (<8 mm)
- High resolution and precision
- Hollow shaft
- Adaptable resolution
- Resistant to harsh environmental conditions
- Magnetic fields immunity

Netzer VLP encoders are ideal for OEM applications. Featuring an open frame, 2 plate design, the sensor is lightweight, highly tolerant to temperature, shock, EMI, RFI and magnetic fields. It offers a unique combination of high performance at an economical cost.
The VLP-60 is a new member of the VLP series of Electric Encoders a product line based on Netzer Precision Motion Sensor proprietary technology. EE products are characterized by features that enable unparalleled performance including:
- Low profile (<6 mm)
- Hollow shaft (Stator / Rotor)
- No bearings or other contact elements
- High resolution and unparalleled precision
- Very low weight
- Digital interfaces for absolute position
- Extremely low profile & weight
- Auto calibration option
- High tolerance to temperature extremes, shock, moisture, EMI, RFI and magnetic fields
The holistic structure of the Electric Encoder makes it unique: Its output reading is the averaged outcome of the entire area of the rotor. This feature allows the EE a tolerant mechanical mounting and to deliver outstanding precision.
