Omron Automation Americas, a global provider of machinery and advanced industrial automation solutions, is offering a high-coded non-contact door switch that installs quickly in new or existing production environments.

Robot cells and large machine tools are dangerous, which is why safeguarding these spaces is essential. Many facilities install equipment interlocks to increase safety, but operator tampering and complex wiring requirements can make these devices unreliable.

To prevent tampering and simplify installation, each Omron D41D is uniquely coded. Pairing via RFID is automatic and requires less than 30 seconds. Up to 30 switch sets can be wired in series and paired at the same time. Integrated LEDs provide real-time status and diagnostic information.

To accommodate constricted spaces, OEM/Machine operators can configure the D41D with flat or miniature actuators. Both the switch and actuators meet the IP65 (water) and IP67 (immersion) ratings. They also comply with IEC 61508 (Safety), ISO 14119 (Type 4/High Coded), and ISO 13849-1 (PLe).

Installation, component pairing, and commissioning are simple and intuitive. These efficiencies help projects go live quickly and deliver a lower total cost of ownership. High reliability enables facility owners to focus on best safety practices and risk-reduction strategies.

With its rugged design, the D41D is well suited for machine enclosures and robot cells.
