Nvent Unveils Wireless Communication Heat Tracing Solution

July 8, 2020

nVent Electric plc, a global provider of electrical connection and protection solutions, recently announced the launch of the nVent RAYCHEM Elexant 9200i Wireless Communications Interface. The 9200i establishes wireless connectivity between nVent RAYCHEM Electric Heat Trace Controllers and nVent RAYCHEM Supervisor software, maintaining remote monitoring and configuration capabilities, but as an alternative to hardwired communications. The 9200i’s debut follows last year’s launch of nVent’s Elexant family of smart, connected control and monitoring solutions.

“nVent continues to be at the forefront of innovation in the industrial heat tracing market,” says Dan Caouette, nVent Director of Product Management. “We provide innovative products to meet customer needs with smart, connected options. The Elexant 9200i provides a cost-effective solution that can help customers lower total installation and operating costs, helping to deliver maximum value from client assets.”

General industrial trends are driving demand for increased connectivity and wireless solutions. The Elexant 9200i can help reduce total installation and operating costs of a heat tracing project when compared to conventional hardwired solutions. The Elexant 9200i integrates seamlessly with nVent RAYCHEM Supervisor software / TOUCH1500 and electric heat tracing controllers.

Safety & Security

The Elexant 9200i will meet all global approval requirements for use in hazardous environments – CID2/Zone 2 (NAM), ATEX Zone 2 (Europe) and IEC Ex Zone 2 (international). Its secure, encrypted communication ensures customers’ data is well protected.

Cost Savings

The Elexant 9200i can reduce investment costs by eliminating hardwiring and related installation work. It also reduces operating costs by providing easy-to-use remote configuration and monitoring, and by utilizing self-healing network capabilities which mitigate field interventions and wire maintenance.

Connectivity, Flexibility and Scalability

The Elexant 9200i supports the common ModBus RTU protocol and may be incorporated into a new heat tracing system or seamlessly integrated in an existing installation with the nVent RAYCHEM Supervisor solution. It also enables connectivity of small-to-large quantities of monitored heat tracing circuits, providing scalability.

A Complete Turnkey Solution

nVent provides a complete turnkey product and services package for the Elexant 9200i including design, engineering and commissioning capabilities, ensuring a successful deployment in the field.

The Elexant 9200i is now available in North America. A global launch is planned for later this year.
