ABB launches first range of fully-connected network analyzers
September 27, 2019
ABB launches its first Bluetooth-equipped network analyzers, which guarantee accurate electrical measuring and power monitoring of all energy assets. The new M4M empowers digital transformation of buildings by leveraging the scalability of ABB’s energy and asset management solutions.
As customers look to increase productivity and reduce energy consumption, ABB has developed its new M4M range of fully connected network analyzers for complete power quality analysis and accurate energy monitoring.
Designed with the end user in mind, M4M network analyzers gather information for the energy distribution system and connect them to the unique ABB Ability Electrical Distribution Control System, a cloud-based platform which gives users immediate access to actionable data on energy consumption and on-site power generation trends.
Oliver Iltisberger, Managing Director of ABB Smart Buildings business line said: “ABB has been at the forefront of developing scalable and cloud-based solutions that offer customers a completely new dimension in energy and asset management. With its cloud-enabled features and intuitive access to data, the new M4M has enhanced and extended our digital energy monitoring solutions, designed to improve performance and reduce impact on the environment.”
Users can reduce installation and commissioning time by up to 40 percent, thanks to the intuitive interface for easy device configuration and quick visualization of data. Completely removable terminals and a mobile App also deliver faster commissioning.
Moreover, M4M provides a comprehensive range of accurate information for energy efficiency evaluations, from basic electrical parameters to advanced power quality KPIs, displayed in waveform or as graphs, that improve plant efficiency and allow for effective trouble shooting of power quality issues.
The range is available in two different families: M4M 20 and M4M 30 incl. touchscreen. Both are equipped with full communication protocol options, while the versions compatible with Rogowski coils allow for integration in any new or existing installation and reduce cabling time by up to 70 percent.
Applications
For commercial buildings, integration into ABB’s scalable portfolio of energy and asset management digital solutions allows for efficient and rational use of real-time energy consumption and power monitoring, to avoid utility fees and penalties.
In industrial buildings, M4M delivers easy monitoring and control of the power network to avoid costly outages, equipment damage and interruption of critical operations. User-defined alerts enhance reactivity to potential events on the electrical system, improving operations and allowing faster maintenance.
Also ideal for use in data centers, M4M network analyzers enable robust power chain and power quality monitoring, preventing damage to installed equipment and avoiding tripping or overloading, which can result in costly downtime.
M4M network analyzers can be integrated also into ABB Ability™, the company’s unified, cross-industry digital offering, delivering web-enabled connectivity that allows operators to perform several functions, including remote monitoring and configuring of energy assets.
“Innovations like this are writing the future of energy control and usage, allowing customers to use connectivity to their advantage. Giving access to powerful energy and asset management data means users can reduce their impact on the environment and improve performance, which has to be a positive step forward in shaping a greener world,” added Iltisberger.
