Prof. Dr. Peter Hofmann appointed new KUKA Executive Board member for Technology and Development

Technology expert Prof. Dr. Peter Hofmann will join the Executive Board of KUKA Aktiengesellschaft as the new Chief Technology Officer as of November 1, 2019.

At its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of KUKA AG appointed Prof. Dr. Peter Hofmann as a member of the Executive Board of KUKA AG with effect from November 1, 2019.

“With his cross-disciplinary technological expertise, Peter Hofmann is an ideal addition to the KUKA Executive Board,” states Dr. Andy Gu, Chairman of the KUKA AG Supervisory Board. “We are looking forward to working successfully with him.” Peter Mohnen, CEO of KUKA AG, adds: “In Peter Hofmann, KUKA has gained the services of a renowned technology expert with comprehensive industrial experience. With this expansion of the Executive Board, we are focusing even more strongly on innovation and technology topics.”

Peter Hofmann was formerly Senior Vice President for Research, Development and Digitalisation at Krones AG in Neutraubling, Bavaria. He studied Aerospace engineering and Computer engineering at the University of Stuttgart. After completing his doctorate in Computer engineering he started his professional career as a development engineer at Daimler-Benz AG in Sindelfingen. In various positions there, he acquired a comprehensive knowledge of the development and production of advanced products in an international environment. In 2003, he was appointed Honorary Professor for Mechatronic Systems in Automotive at the Technical University of Dresden. 

In 2005, Dr. Hofmann moved to automation technology. As Chief Technology Officer at Bürkert GmbH & Co KG in Ingelfingen, he was responsible for the development of control components. From 2010 to 2017, he worked for Festo AG in Esslingen. As Vice President, he was responsible for building up the new Process Automation Business Unit. Following the successful establishment of this business unit, Dr. Hofmann was Senior Vice President Global Research and Development for Festo AG from 2013 to 2017.

Peter Hofmann is married and was born in Tuttlingen, Baden-Württemberg, in 1964.
