Endress+Hauser award winning device configuration tablets made to order for general purpose and hazardous zones

July 16, 2019

Endress+Hauser is offering two universal, device configuration tablet PCs that provide especially fast, efficient one-click mobile device configuration and plant asset management in hazardous environments. With these robust, touch-enabled Field Xpert tablet PCs – model SMT77 for Cl. 1 Div. 1 and SMT70 for Cl. 1 Div. 2 – maintenance staff can manage virtually all digitally communicating Endress+Hauser and other field instruments throughout their entire life cycle. Both can be utilized just as effectively in non-hazardous parts of the same facilities.

The SMT70 won a Product of the Year award for 2018, as voted by readers of Plant Engineering. These tablets are slim, lightweight for such reinforced construction, and intuitive to use. They are ready to go right out of the box – providing complete solutions to manage field instruments in a time- and cost-saving manner. Fast connections are assured via the tablets’ built-in automated hardware detection capability. Both models have installed device configuration software in 20 languages; that includes NAMUR NE 107 instrument diagnosis. Extensive, pre-installed driver libraries stored in both tablets cover all important industrial protocols and offer access to the Industrial Internet of Things as well as to device information and documentation. The Field Xpert tablet automatically updates all DTMs and software regularly to ensure maintenance teams have ultimate connectivity when it counts.

Both models also support multiple communication technologies including HART, Profibus DP/PA, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus and EtherNET/IP. Device connectivity may be achieved point-to-point, over digital networks, or via marshalling cabinets, remote I/Os and gateways, making the Field Xpert a versatile means to perform device configuration.

The 1.2 kg SMT70 boasts a large 11.6” display and a battery runtime of up to 14 hours, while the 2.3 kg SMT70 has a 10.1” display and a battery runtime of up to five hours.
