Since 1960 ODE has been one of the leaders in designing and manufacturing a complete line of solenoid valves. National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certified lead-free brass-bodied water valves from ODE are an excellent choice for food and beverage grade potable water applications where products can be consumed by humans. Two types of these brass solenoid valves are available; direct acting, and pilot control solenoid valves. Both types of valves are 2-port, 2-position, normally closed.

Direct acting solenoid valves with G1/8 or G1/4 port sizes are certified NSF/ANSI 169 for use in vending and other potable water applications and where minimum operational pressure is not required. Maximum operating pressure is 580 psi.

Solenoid valves with pilot control are NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 certified for use with water and other compatible fluid applications. A minimum operational pressure of 0.2 bar (2.9 psi) is required. 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 1" NPT port sizes are available. Maximum pressures are 232 – 363 psi.

ODE brass potable water valves from AutomationDirect start at $38.00 and are NSF, CE, CSA, UL recognized and IP 65 EN 60529 (DIN 40050) protected. 12VDC, 24VDC, 24VAC, 120VAC and 240VAC replacement coils are available.

Condition Monitoring ABBBy Blake Marchand

Artur Rdzanek, ABB’s Mechanical Power Transmission Global Product Manager for Sensored Products, notes there are three core tenants to ABB AbilityTM sensors and remote monitoring systems: safety, extending system life, and significantly, or even completely, eliminating downtime.

From a safety perspective, the advantage is being able to gauge component health without having to be continuously around rotating equipment. The ability to monitor equipment remotely is particularly important when it comes to equipment that is difficult or dangerous to access.  Usability is at the core of sensors.
